the concept of a single stripping tool with interchangeable blades and guides was developed in the late 1970's by the newly-formed micro electronics. company engineers visited a nasa facility and saw a way to improve the stripping tools then in use. problems were that precision needed improvement; a separate tool was required for each size of wire to be stripped; and the blade wasn't supported during the stripping operation. this led the company to invent and patent the highly precise micro-strip® stripping tool.
