I need to pick up a 50 foot subwoofer cable from my Integra processor to my amp I'm seeing 18awg for XLR cables Is this good enough (does it matter) for a 50 foot run?

Simply put, AWG is an acronym for the American Wire gauge It's basically a standard for measuring the thickness of wire 18AWG wire is roughly 0 04 inches in diameter The smaller the AWG of the wire, the thicker it is Incidentally RG6 is coaxial cable and 18 AWG wire is not I suspect for HDTV connections you would need to coaxial cable like RG6 18 AWG wire is more suited for audio

I have been looking for good quality 18 gauge speaker wire So far all I've found has either been incorrectly gauged with very little conductor, or it is made of copper clad aluminum Even Monoprice's wire is apparrently thinner than it should be Fraud seems very common in speaker wire

Using 18awg gauge wire connected to 16awg gauge will work, but of course not at the least optimal On a side note if inwall wiring is no go, why not just get a concealment plate running vertically up the wall
