Matsimus knows little and less about what he's talking about, having not even read the excellent British Army manuals on the subject (The Army Field Manual, Volume II, Part 2, A Treatise on Soviet Operational Art) A conventional war in Europe during the late 1980's would either go very poorly for NATO, or not stay conventional for long, or both!
