- How To Remove Old Archive Files in VMware vCenter Server Appliance
Due to limited resources the customer’s preference was to remove old archive files from the archive partition The following guidance was provided to resolve the issue

Please note that in version 6 7 and later versions, the storage archive disk can be up to 100% full by design By default, when vCenter file systems reach 95% full, the main vCenter service (vmware-vpxd), is turned off automatically This is to protect the database from corruption
- vCenter PSC (VCSA) - dev mapper archive_vg-archive 95% usage -FIX
Note: The partition storage archive partition can get full by design, as it is aimed at storing as much WAL history as possible and is automatically cleaned up by the archiver service by removing automatically the oldest WAL segments

Verify free space on archived partition In the directory storage archive I find out the folder vpostgres using 45G root@myvcenter [ storage archive ]# du -sh * The directory vpostgress is very important for vsphere but we can delete the older gz files, for example here i delete all the files older than 60 days Clear vpostgres directory

the storage archive is supposed to use 100% so no issues there, bu the another suspect was “ storage seat” which was at 95% which was odd, close to full but not quite

Your monitoring platform would pick the error as storage archive is full however this issue is an erroneous alarm that does not affect the operations of the vCenter Server
