This make me wonder, am I missing something here, if not, what is the use case for aliases then? I had assumed their purpose was so that you could use the aliases instead of your actual protonmail in order to protect it, but if any alias can be used to log in then that's kind of redundant?

No it does not Under Security logs it states advanced logs log the IP that attempts or succeeds in logging in If you "wipe" advanced logs, does that permanently delete the IP addresses that were logged, which would include your own log-in IP? As soon as you wipe it, its deleted Authentication logs does not have the icon that states your IP is
