Re: What Kind of bolts are used to mount Outboard's ? JJB, We normally use the largest bolt that will fit in the mounting holes (usually 3 8") I recommend stainless, with SS flat washers and SS locking nuts SS is plenty strong for this purpose Put some caulk on the bolts to seal them
- sealing outboard mounting bolts on new transom
Re: sealing outboard mounting bolts on new transom What you want to do sounds like a Cadillac solution, when the Chevy solution everyone's been using since time immemorial works just fine In other words, I agree with Bond-o above; some 3M 4200 (or 5200) on the bolts will do the job If there is a problem with what you propose, it is this: what if you need to raise the motor on the transom (i

- Sealing Thru-transom Engine Mount Bolts - iboats Boating Forums
Re: Sealing Thru-transom Engine Mount Bolts 3M 4200 will work, but why not drill out the holes over-size, full in with marine-tex, and re-drill? Now you have covered any bare wood, and have no worries
- Torque on transom bracket bolts - iboats Boating Forums
Hello, I have a really old boat (1969) and I recently replaced the outboard However, I have no idea if I tightened the mounting bracket bolts (connecting outboard bracket to transom) to sufficient torque I did significant searches both here and on Google and didn't see a single mention of
