According to carfax and my research the only thing I can tell is that it shows United States Gov as previous owner So I am curious, does this mean it was a true Gov car used to ferry Generals around or something like that? Or was it a Government seizure vehicle that was taken in some federal drug raid or something?

CarFax is probably the least comprehensive source of useful info, but occasionally it will report insurance-related information, (like an accident) so it's still a must-have item

Congrats on the purchase Call any Cadillac dealer with the VIN # and find out if the alternator recall has been done You can theoretically get the name of the previous owner from the title, and Carfax will generally tell you the number of previous owners and locations where the car was registered
