@darenoakesford actually a great question the answer to which is that if you simply take the drives (HDD, HHDD, SSHD, SSD) SATA or SAS out of any NAS system appliance server and then attached directly to a SAS (SAS or SATA drives) or SATA (SATA drives only) port on a motherboard, your system would see the drives While your operating system

The workaround is to have a super large NAS (RS2416rp+ with 10x SATA HDD, 1 Hot spare and 1x SSD cache) with Veeam Endpoint to run “reverse increment” backup with 300 days retention Each Dell Precision have its own 1TB SSD, backup size of approx 500GB with approx 2% daily changes…so each user backup for 300 days may use like 3 5TB
