I learned and played Go in Japan for several years (2011 to 2014) and have played live with folks many times thereafter when staying for long periods The gap isn’t as pronounced as what people English in forum folks believe Most players I’ve met in Japan refer to different ranks, e g their local club rank, their IGS rank

OGS Ah, back home I love OGS because how easily accessible it is: no downloads, just a URL and away you go That is not to say it doesn’t need more work, but then again, that’s just how servers go The players here seem to be a bar stronger than what the other servers indicate A 10k here plays just as well as some 8k on other servers
