Having accomplished many of the original objectives, Sitka Trail Works launched a new planning process in 2021 To start, Sitka Trail Works widely distributed a public survey to gather information about current uses, challenges, and opportunities for our trail system in the spring of 2022
- 2024 Youth Summer Camps – Sitka Trail Works
In 2024, Sitka Trail Works summer camps expanded even further to offer 6 individual camps throughout the summer, increasing the youth served by 400% Incredible partnerships with aligned organizations made this possible
- Volunteer - Sitka Trail Works
In summer of 2023, Sitka Trail Works brought over 50 volunteers to work on the Salmon Lake Trail using Allen Marine water taxis The volunteers distributed over 30,000 pounds of gravel to improve accessibility and address erosion issues on this trail

Sitka Trail Works was established to uplift the health of our whole community We advance projects, programming, and policies that connect all Sitkans with the physical, mental, cultural, and spiritual benefits of life outdoors
- Sitka’s Cross Trail - Sitka Trail Works
Since 2006 Sitka Trail Works has worked with the City and Borough of Sitka to convert the trail to a multimodal pathway with links to other trails and access to the local neighborhoods, visitor destinations, schools and the downtown core
- Save a Crew Campaign Update – Sitka Trail Works
As many of you have seen and supported, Sitka Trail Works launched a Save A Crew Campaign to rehire displaced federal Forest Service Employees who were fired in February We’ve been blown away by the community support for public lands and terminated workers
- Beaver Lake Herring Cove Trail Loop – Sitka Trail Works
The trail climbs through an open forest of hemlock, Sitka spruce and yellow cedar The mostly gravel trail runs through open forest and parallels the Beaver Lake outlet stream and associated marshes and muskegs
