Robinhood is owned by the same people who own Citadel, if you followed the GME stuff They make money by selling your order flow to citadel's high frequency trading hedge funds But, if you are indexing away in a vanguard ETF say, that order flow worst legally allowed execution on trades doesn't really matter

The Robinhood investment account sync is kind of a mess so I just do it manually now in Empower Ex: it sometimes just shows the balance, but not the underlying holdings (throwing off a bunch of charts like asset allocation), it won't reflect margin being used, you get hit with 2-factor prompts every time you open Empower, etc

Robinhood is only different in its margin features They have great margin rates and instant margin access and sale settlement, which is a source of revenue nobody else in the free-broker sphere uses Stockpile sells giftcards at outrageously marked up prices but has very low commission otherwise

Robinhood lets you place a trade order before the market opens, but I wasn't actually looking to 'buy' I just wanted to confirm that the stock was available first, and got this message:

Hi Mustachians, I am trying to sell my mutual funds (VTIAX and VTSAX) and buy etfs (VTI) so I can do an account transfer to robinhood and get a sizeable brokerage bonus (3%) I guess robinhood doesn't have mutual funds so I have to do this exchange to do the transfer This is at Chase, and it is in my roth and traditonal IRA accounts When I go to sell my mutual funds it says "We can't place

I read that Robinhood doesn't offer mutual funds, so you probably can't buy VTSAX there Note at Robinhood your trading data is the product they sell to hedge funds In terms of how they make money, hedge funds are their clients I don't like that kind of conflict of interest For new investors, Vanguard offers a lot of safe choices

I've been looking at the 3% match at Robinhood for transfers which reading the fine print includes IRA's and 401k rollovers My current 401k plan is managed by Fidelity, so I could do a fidelity rollover to an IRA and then transfer the IRA in kind to Robinhood

It would be pointless to transfer your 401k to a Robinhood IRA because you'd have to wait five years to start converting those funds not converting, would rollover to traditional first then transfer to get bonus, but just having the funds in traditional would hinder future backdoor Roth contributions due to Pro Rata?
